The Algerian Dr Toufik Haouam has been appointed as special advisor for North Africa region of IIMSAM (intergovernmental institution for the use of spirulina microalgae against malnutrition): a permanent institution within the ECOSOC economic and social council of the United Nations which mainly fights against poverty and malnutrition.
His profile was carefully selected among many other candidates.
Indeed Dr. Haouam is known to be a philanthropist, in fact his company IMGSA was the first Algerian company to make a significant donation to Italy during the Covid19 pandemic.

Through this nomination, Algeria has a key role within this UN institution, an important role which allows our country to defend some important principles of its foreign policy, starting with the fight against poverty, a basic condition to restore peace and stability and fight effectively against insecurity in several regions of the African continent.
